Mikkel Beck, the agent of Simon Kjaer, confirmed his client’s plans with Milan for the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 35-year-old Danish defender has been an important member of the Rossoneri squad since his arrival back in 2020, being a leader in the dressing room and a reliable option on the bench, even if he’s struggled with injuries in recent years.

Kjaer has just over two months left on his contract with Milan, putting him on track to leave the club on a free transfer in the summer. This term, he’s seen over 1450 minutes of action across 24 appearances.

Kjaer future

Speaking to Danish newspaper Bold, Beck confirmed the plans for Kjaer at Milan in the summer.

“His contract will expire this summer, then Simon will leave Milan. There is no drama, the parties share feelings and there is understanding of each other’s wishes. It’s just the natural farewell to a club where Simon has been playing, and loves to do so, for four years.

“It seems like the right time has come, one day he told me that he would have liked to play for Milan, he managed to make his dream come true and in the most beautiful way Rossoneri are the club where Simon has played the most matches.”

Beck then discussed Kjaer’s next steps and his memorable four-year spell with Milan.

“For Simon it’s a perfect situation, he will play the European Championship in the summer and then he will be free to move wherever he wants. He would like to be able to freely choose where the next adventure will be, for him and his family.

“I don’t expect rapid timing in the case of Simon, unlike for example Giroud. When Simon arrived at Milan, the club was in the bottom half of the table. He dreamed of bringing the club back to the top of Italian football, they won a title, they stabilized.

“Until the top of Europe, last year he played in the semi-finals of the Champions League. Today he is injured, but he should be able to help Milan at the end of the season, to prepare for the European Championship.”

Across his four years with Milan, Kjaer has made 120 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing three assists.
